BRYAN, TEXAS — December 2005 — Newman Printing Company of Bryan, Texas was awarded the Benjamin Franklin Award, the highest honor in the 2005 Premier Print Awards, for its entry of the Texas A&M University Bonfire Memorial Dedication program. The Premier Print Awards, the graphic arts industry’s largest and most prestigious worldwide printing competition, recognizes outstanding achievement in print production.

“Our close relationship with the community and Texas A&M University makes this award even more meaningful,” said Louis Newman, President of Newman Printing Company. “It is especially gratifying to know that our company’s efforts to achieve the world’s highest printing standards were recognized through the quality of the Texas A&M University Bonfire Memorial Dedication program.”

According to Dr. Robert M. Gates, President of Texas A&M University, “It was important that the dedication ceremony of the Bonfire memorial be a special event for the Aggie Family and that a meaningful keepsake of the occasion be developed. It was decided that the dedication program would serve a dual purpose — as an explanation of the memorial’s significance, as well as a remembrance keepsake. The University Relations team of Tiffany Verzal, Roy DeHaven and Allen Pearson provided a high quality design for the program, one that captures the essence of the Aggie Spirit and celebrates the lives of the young Aggies memorialized at this site. We are honored that this dedication program, produced by the University and Newman Printing, resulted in the Benjamin Franklin Printing Award.”

Competing with over 5200 entries from printing and graphic arts firms from around the world, the Benjamin Franklin Award recognizes the top entry in each category. It has been over 10 years since a printing company located in the Houston, Gulf Coast region has received this rare designation.

“In over 55 years of continuous single-family ownership Newman Printing Company’s unwavering commitment to printing excellence has resulted in numerous prestigious awards — and now the Benjamin Franklin Award. Sharing this recognition with Texas A&M, our employees and our community is an incredible honor,” Newman said.

Newman Printing Company is a commercial printing company with offices in Bryan and Brenham, Texas, and a large customer base in the greater Houston TX area.
